Resources Needed for the Magic Dust Projects:

Project 1, Salt Dough Map

• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup salt
• 1 cup water
• Mixing bowl
• Spoon
• Rolling pin
• Parchment paper or aluminum foil
• Map of Ancient Rome included in the lesson
• Paint (various colors)
• Paintbrushes
• Toothpicks
• Small pieces of paper for labels

Project 2, Roman Temple Facade

• Clay (air-dry or oven-bake)
• Printable template of a Roman temple front (to use as a guide)
• Rolling pin
• Toothpicks or sculpting tools
• Paint (optional)
• Paintbrushes (optional)

Project 3, Make a Toga

• A large piece of fabric (about 4-5 yards long and 2 yards wide) - a bedsheet works well for this!
• A belt or rope
• Safety pins or brooch
• A plain tunic or t-shirt

Project 4, Wax Tablet

• Cardboard - 2 pieces
• Ruler
• String
• Glue
• Scissors
• Beeswax (or crayons as a substitute)
• Coconut oil
• A saucepan (if melting the beeswax)
• Old bowl or mug
• Markers
• A toothpick or wooden skewer

Project 5, Catapult

• Elastics (rubber bands)
• Pencils
• Plastic spoons
• Craft sticks
• Marshmallows or other small item
