For this book club, we will be using several book options.
Shakespeare's Life and Times Book Choices
You will need ONE of the following books about Shakespeare's life and times.. You may pick your favorite from the list:
A Midsummer Night's Dream Story Book
You will need ONE of the following story books. You may pick your favorite from the list or use one you have already:
- Graphic Shakespeare by Penny Clarke, Michael Ford, Stephen Haynes
- Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb,
- Stories from Shakespeare by Geraldine McCaughrean.
- The Children's Shakespeare by E. Nesbit
You can purchase any of these in digital, paperback, hardcover, and audio formats. They are also available at many local libraries. You will only need ONE of each of these options.
A Midsummer Night's Dream Original Play
We will be reading excerpts from Shakespeare's play. You do NOT need a copy, as we will give you links to the play online. However, you may prefer a written copy of the play you are choosing to study.
The authors of this course will be using The Complete Works of Shakespeare. There are many different options available at your local library or your local bookstore. If you would prefer a complete work, we recommend ONE of the following:
You will also need a notebook for your notes, copywork, dictation, and journaling.
**Parent Note: This book may contain phrases or situations in which you do not feel comfortable. I recommend this course for upper elementary-age children and older. As with any children's resource, please refer to trusted sources for reviews before reading.
