Rabbit Trail: The Globe Theater
Estimated Time: 15 minutes
Shakespeare performed his plays in a theater called The Globe. It was originally built in 1598. Unfortunately, it burned to the ground after a cannonball was fired onstage in 1613.
It was rebuilt the next year but sadly was closed down in 1642 by the Puritans, who believed theater was sinful.
This video tells about the theater and the actors of the day.
This video is a tour of the newly rebuilt Globe Theater in London.
