Go Outside on an Adventure: Discover the Wildflowers
Spring is the season when the world wakes up in color! Let’s go outside and see what kinds of wildflowers are blooming around you.
Go outside to a field, park, or path where wildflowers grow freely.
- Observe what you see.
- Walk slowly and look carefully at the ground and along the edges of trails.
- How many different kinds of wildflowers can you find? Are they blooming?
- What colors do you notice—pink, yellow, purple, white, or blue?
- Do some flowers stand tall while others stay close to the ground?
- Can you see pollen floating in the air or resting on the petals?
- Take out your Nature Journal or sketchbook and record your observations. Draw one of the wildflowers you discovered and label it with its color and shape. Use a nature book or the internet to find out what kind of wildflower it is and write its name beside your sketch.
Include the date, time, and weather in your notes.
🕵️♀️ Try This:
Count how many different colors of wildflowers you can find. Which color appears the most?
