Writing Project
Estimated Time: 30 minutes
One way to become a better writer is to read good writing. In this online book club, you will be reading stories written by authors in which real events were used to inspire their story.
This week read "A Dog Named Kitty"and "Dart the Dragon Hound" by Dee Garretson of Been There, Done That: Writing Stories From Real Life.
Allegory
The writing project for this month is to write an allegory. Over the next few lessons you will read several articles describing the process of writing an allegory. They will all be similar but may have a slightly different twist on the process.
Help Me Write an Allegory Guide: Examples & Step-by-Step Framework of How to Write an Allegory
"Help me write an allegory" is the request of many students. Well, do they understand what an allegory is? Learn the definition and consider what classic works of literature are the most famous allegorical stories. Also, learn how to set up the framework for writing an allegory step-by-step and how to write a successful fable.
For this week, begin to think about an issue or moral that you would like to use for your allegory. If you choose a political or social issue, it needs to be something fairly well known so your audience can pick up on your underlying meaning.
