Paddington tells the Browns that he is from "Darkest Peru." Peru is a country in South America. It's a land with tall mountains, deep jungles, and ancient ruins. It has forests filled with colorful birds and animals.
Peru is also home to the famous Machu Picchu, an ancient city built by the Inca people high up in the mountains. It's a giant puzzle of stone, put together so long ago, and it's still standing today! And did you know? In Peru, you can find the Amazon Rainforest, where the trees are so tall and the rivers so wide, it's like a whole other world.
Peruvians love to celebrate with music, dancing, and delicious food. They have a dish called ceviche, made with fresh fish, and another favorite is called lomo saltado, which is a yummy stir-fry. And let's not forget, Peru is where potatoes come from. They have more types of potatoes than you could ever imagine!
