Rabbit Trail: Real-life Paddington
Estimated Time: 5 minutes
Today, we're going to learn about a unique kind of bear called the spectacled bear. This bear is special because it's the kind of bear Paddington is! Spectacled bears come from the same faraway place as Paddington—Peru, in South America.
What makes spectacled bears so unique? Well, they're called "spectacled" because the white or light fur around their eyes looks like they're wearing glasses—just like spectacles! Imagine a bear looking like it's ready to read a book, just like Paddington with his own little suitcase.
Spectacled bears are the only bears that live in South America. They love to climb trees and are really good at it. Unlike other bears, they are pretty shy and like to spend a lot of time alone, wandering through the dense forests and mountains.
Watch the video about what these amazing spectacled bears look like in real life. You'll get to see how they live and what they eat.
