For this book club, you will be using the book Japan and the Shackles of the Past by R. Taggart Murphy as your primary or spine text. You can purchase it in digital, paperback, hardcover, and audio formats. It is also available at many local libraries.

You will also need The Japanese Mind edited by Roger J. Davies.

Tales of Japan: Traditional Stories of Monsters and Magic will be used in this study during each unit, as well.

And finally, you will need A Geek in Japan: Discovering the Land of Manga, Anime, Zen and the Tea Ceremony by Hector Garcia.

You will also need a notebook or binder for your notes, vocabulary, and writing.
